About Us
Who We Are
We are Travis and Melissa Ellis. A farm boy who married a girl from the city. Together we have built a wonderful life and family. We first met in April 2007 and married in August 2011. We started Ellis Sheep Company in December 2019.
The Why
Our greatest gift came in January 2018. Our son, Tyce, was born. We had raised a few head of commercial Hereford cows. When Tyce was born, Travis had another idea for livestock. We decided to go with sheep, so Tyce could get involved sooner. He loves getting out with the sheep, especially during lambing season.
What We Do
We sell registered purebred St. Croix hair sheep for breeding stock. We practice regenerative agriculture at Ellis Sheep Co. We try do things as close to nature as we can. We rotational graze, by moving the sheep to new fresh grass every 2 to 4 days. Lambing takes place the end of April, first part of May on green grass.
